Oh, I hate to gloat, but I had a real New York bagel with cream chesse and lox a week ago. And becasue it was the first thing I had eaten all day, and it was 10 pm, it tasted UNBELIEVABLY good.

You all are welcome to come up here anytime for the bagels. We've got plenty.

Thank you for paying federal taxes for me. I'm saying that to all my childless friends. We had our second child in 2003. My tax bill for 2004 was tiny. My low pay and huge mortgage also helped out.

I like the Manhattan bagle shops in NC. They are not too bad. Seem a little crisper than Bruegger's.

There used to be Horwitz's Deli in Cary, which was a reasonable facsimile of a New York deli, but that closed.

Crying in public? That only happens to me when the beer runs out.

I'm no fan of the round ball, but I did watch the game because I was out and near a television, and there was really no escaping it. The orange-clad people drinking around me were none too happy that their state representatives lost, but it wasn't nearly as bad as when the Cubs almost made it to the World Series, but didn't, and I had to witness grown men CRYING IN PUBLIC.

I have settled for Bruegger's best - which really isn't so great. But I have never even seen an authentic deli here, in my decade-plus of NC living. I still long for the place in Oak Park that I used to go with my dad. It was a little intimidating, with very dry salamis hanging from the ceiling.

And a UNC win makes for a happy office and happy husband - so I'm happy!

Blah for paying taxes! I usually have to pay but because I made waaaay less money than usual last year, we actually got a refund. First time in ages.

And dammit, now I want a bagel.
