Television: Lost
Wednesday, 2004 September 22 - 9:12 pm
ABC's new drama, from the creators of "Alias", has promise.

It's "Castaway" meets "The Island of Dr. Moreau". ABC's show "Lost" features a group of airplane crash survivors, stranded on a tropical island which seems to be infested with very large carnivorous monsters.

It sounds a bit cheesy, but this show has potential. It's very Michael Crichton: a diverse group of people thrown into a stressful situation, with all the psycho-social entanglements that that entails. Actually, now that I think about it, it's rather like "Jurassic Park"... right down to the Kauai scenery.

The first episode was good for all the same reasons we love "Alias": strong characters, fast-paced action, and an underlying mystery that will surely take all season to reveal.

Darn, I guess I'm hooked. So much for my Wednesday nights.

I don't know...I think it's a fad actually. All the viewers will likely desert it over the summer.

;)
