Album: Alanis Morissette - Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie
Wednesday, 2003 October 22 - 10:24 pm
I purchased this CD quite a while ago, but have only really listened to it in the last few weeks. I was surprised by what I found.

It's easy to write off Alanis Morissette as a former pop-star with a few angry feminist hits. Or perhaps as a self-indulgent neo-hippie. But I've started listening to her recent CD, "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie", and I was surprised by the depth of the songs and the quality of the music. The songs are a fusion of rock and trance, with lyrics that are introspective while still retaining some of the raw emotion of her "Jagged Little Pill" stuff. This is easily Alanis's best work to date. Don't pay too much attention to the radio-friendly "Thank U"; concentrate more on "The Couch", "I Was Hoping", and "One".

CD rating: 5/5
