Dating Update | Saturday, 2005 March 19 - 6:41 pm |
More minor bits of news on the dating front; still nothing exciting. (NOTE: Looking for information on "finduslove"? Click this link.) The big news is that cock-out girl has corrected her profile. She did not, however, correct the word "possiable" on the same line. I got a "wink" from a girl in Winston Salem. A wink is a way of letting someone know you're interested, without actually sending an e-mail. People send winks because they're free. The person who winked at me has a really pretty picture posted, but the profile text was pretty generic. I started to get a little suspicious because Winston Salem is four hours away from here, and she seemed a little too pretty to be winking at people that far away. Plus, I know that there are, um, "professionals" who lurk around on-line dating sites trying to drum up business. Then, there was this line in her profile: "I'm also trying another sight [sic] called finduslove." Could it be she's trying to get folks to sign up there? Could this be some sort of scam? So I didn't write back immediately. Now I've found a different profile, this one in Raleigh, also with a cute picture. It's similarly generic, and the text contains the exact same sentence about finduslove, complete with the misspelling "sight". I smell a rat. There was one new interesting profile; a Middle Eastern girl woman a doctorate degree. I think she teaches at Duke. I know some people who have had bad experiences dating professors, but I just might give her a shot. Of course, this may all become moot because tonight I'm going out for a birthday dinner and dancing, and there will be at least a couple of single women in attendance. Assuming I make it home, I will write again late tonight with an update. |

Another birthday dinner? Come on now, it was three weeks ago! :-} I don't see any problem with dating professors. Being married to one is pretty nice. I think it depends on whether they have tenure or not. Untenured profs can be insane-work-a-holics. Tenured profs don't have to do anything. In what field does she teach? Go for it! |

Winston Salem is more like 3 hours away. The internet says it is only 2. http://maps.yahoo.com/dd_result?ed=xTowJeV.wimQQVd6MsEKU7USFw--&csz=cary%2C+NC&country=us&tcsz=Winston+Salem%2C+NC&tcountry=us Sounds kind of fishy though. |

Oh, sorry... it wasn't for my birthday, it was for my friend Jessica. I'll post an article about it momentarily. |

I agree with Jen. Contact the professor. We need a story here. |
