Wednesday's Frozen Meal: DiGiorno Supreme Pizza For One
Friday, 2010 March 5 - 11:18 am
Geez, I'm falling behind. "Pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, red peppers, onions; sausage & pepperoni made with pork, chicken, and beef."

Box

Meal

After all those bland Lean Cuisine pizzas, I decided to try bringing in some heavyweight contenders here. This is the first of a three-part pizza series.

Taste: Well, it's a DiGiorno pizza, and it's a huge leap over the Lean Cuisine pizzas. But disappointingly, the microwaved version is not quite to the same level as the regular oven-baked DiGiorno pizzas. The crust is doughy, not crisp, and the tomato sauce tastes microwave-y (it has that dessicated overcooked quality to it). The toppings are fine, and it's pretty good overall, but it falls just a bit short of being restaurant-quality (or delivery-quality, in this case.) Score: 3.5/5.0

Nutrition

Nutrition: This is the first instance in which I've had to debate whether nutrition scores can be negative. 36 grams of fat! 14 grams of saturated fat! 1450mg of sodium! This is worse than a Big Mac. Score: 0.0/3.0

Packaging: Pretty convenient; it has a crisping platform, and the shrink wrap was easy to open. Score: 2.0/2.0

Total Score: 5.5/10.0. Strikeout. Because of the horrendous nutrition score, the marginally better flavor does not make this a better alternative to the Lean Cuisine pizzas.
