American Idol Week 7: Top 6 | Tuesday, 2010 April 27 - 9:41 pm |
It's Shania Twain week. Woo, uh, hoo. Tim finally went out last week. As it turns out, Tim had been the longest-running "VoteForTheWorst.com" contestant in history. Lee: "Still the One". I like the chord changes in the beginning; it makes it more rock and less country. He doesn't change the chorus, though; I would have liked it if he'd gotten rid of the cheesy backup singers. It's a solid, if somewhat safe, performance. He should make it to next week. Michael: "It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing". Hmm. I suppose the song fits him, but it's kind of a boring song. I think he'll have a hard time connecting with people with this. It's a nice performance, but forgettable. Bottom three. Casey: "Don't". It's a little squeaky, but it's not awful. It'd be better as a power-rock song; actually, I think I'd rather have seen Lee sing this. I'm on the fence about this. He'll be helped by having the judges talk him up. I guess he may be safe. Crystal: "No One Needs to Know". It's awfully old-timey. How on earth does she expect to be seen as relevant with this? It's country week, but not 1950s country. Her stock just went waaaay down. If this were our first time seeing her, she'd be gone for sure. Bottom three. Aaron: "You Got Away". It has a very Disney kind of vibe, but you know, it does fit him. I'm shocked that I'm saying this, but it's actually not bad. It looks like he'll make it to the top 5. Siobhan: "Any Man of Mine". It's a very generic and cheesy country performance, and completely not believable from her. Vocally it's okay, but really? She's not going to make records like this. She looks like a hot mess too. Bottom three. Best performance: Lee. Bottom three: Michael, Crystal, Siobhan. Going home: Michael. |
