Weekend Wrapup
Sunday, 2005 June 12 - 11:47 pm
Okay, better times will begin... now. You hear me, world? I said, NOW.

Well, so the Pistons lost again. The worst thing is that I'm going to have to endure the taunting of an obnoxious Spurs fan on Monday, the kind of guy who just HAS to make not just ONE smart-ass remark, but a WHOLE STRING of them, because for some reason he thinks being a jerk is FUN!

Sometimes I just hate being around people.

I did not go running today, because every time I got ready to go outside, it started to rain. But I did get some work done around the house, and I did finish the book I was reading. Hopefully I'll get to go running tomorrow, but we're into that summer weather pattern where every afternoon brings the possibility of a thunderstorm. So we'll see.

So thinking back a little more on the Friday evening event... I noted, in a comment, how I was reminded a bit of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. The scene in particular is when Harold gets trapped in a room full of Asian Americans having a very dull discussion about business school and careers and such. This is at a time when Harold and Kumar are desperately trying to score a little weed. Now, in the movie, that same group of Asian Americans ends up having a wild drunken naked party. I'm pretty sure nothing of the sort was going to happen this last Friday... but it occurs to me that I really should have brought some weed* with me, because surely I would have found at least a FEW people who would've jumped at the opportunity to liven things up a little. I can just see it: right in the middle of the boring speeches, I would have made that universal signal to a few girls, putting my fingers to my lips holding an invisible doobie. Their eyebrows would go up, and I would motion them to meet me outside. Damn, if nothing else, it would have been fun to see people's reactions.

Another observation about that event: I found that I didn't talk to any of the prettiest girls in the room; like, for example, hottie Renee Chou of WRAL news. I'm wondering if I'm subconsciously trying to avoid rejection by sticking to girls I think I have a chance with. If so, that's something I really need to fix, because looking back, I can't say that any of those girls were really out of my league. Especially if I had had some weed with me.

*By "weed", of course I'm talking about dandelions, officer.

OK...this Piston thing is starting to become a little bit concerning...kinda looks like what we did to the Lakers last year...

Now, this is easy for me to say as I would have (and have had) the same problem, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Rejection stings for a little bit, but if the gamble pays off, the reward is outstanding. Besides, rejections always make great stories for use when you're taking another shot later on.

Being from Texas I'm a semi-fan of the Spurs. I don't watch sports all that much but I do try and support Texas Teams (Yes even the now sucky Cowboys) But I do hate when people take potshots at fans of losing teams.

MY advice is wait until the Pistons win a game and don't rub it in the Spurs fans faces and see what happens when you ignore them.
