The Sordid Affair | Friday, 2005 May 27 - 11:51 pm |
The Michael Jackson trial may be wrapping up soon. I haven't really been following the Michael Jackson trial very closely, but I did notice an article this week, where prosecutors were blocked from showing photos of Jacko's Wee Waw. They claimed that one of the alleged victims could testify about a distinctive blemish or discoloration of some sort, but the Judge Rodney Melville wouldn't buy it. "I'm going to deny the request to bring in evidence of the blemished penis," he said. Yeah, he really said "blemished penis". Is anyone else reminded a little bit of "Porky's" by this? The defense rested their case on Friday, without putting Michael on the stand. They appear to be relying on their strategy of portraying the accusers as devious money-grubbing extortionists. The prosecution called more than 80 witnesses, some of whom may have been more convincing than others... but I expect that having a string of boys talking in embarrassed tones about being molested has to have some impact on a jury. I don't know what to think, myself. I know Michael's already been convicted in the court of public opinion, so to some degree it doesn't even matter what the trial result is. I mean, look at O.J. Simpson; he was acquitted, but he's still a complete pariah. Everyone is talking as if Michael were guilty. I think, if people say something often enough, it somehow becomes true for them, like the phrase "Al Gore said he invented the Internet", or "Bush's appointments deserve an up-or-down vote". It's the Talking Points principle... just say it over and over and over, and people will start to believe it. I'm also not sure how Michael would fare in prison. On the one hand, he's a world-famous superstar. On the other hand, he's a freakish and girly sex offender. Prison life might be okay for him, or it might be REALLY REALLY BAD. But hey, when he gets out, maybe he can move to Massachusetts and marry one of his victims. |

I'm betting he would go to some nice prison like Martha Stewart, and not some Federal bang you in the A$$ prison |
