Brush With Greatness
Saturday, 2005 February 12 - 2:52 pm
Okay, I know I said I wasn't going to talk about Suburban Bliss so much, but there's something I just HAVE to share.

Today I got an e-mail from John, a good friend in Ann Arbor whom I've known since high school. It turns out that John is friends with Logan and Melissa of Suburban Bliss*! So I start thinking, wow, small world... but they all live in Michigan so it's not totally unexpected. But then I find out this: Logan's brother is married to my friend Sue, someone I've known since the THIRD GRADE. And what's more, I probably MET Melissa and Logan at Sue's wedding. I might have even touched them. Here I've been reading Suburban Bliss for months and I never made the connection.

I know, it probably doesn't seem like a big deal to most of you. But aside from my friend Javi, I don't know very many people who have any sort of celebrity status. Judging from the amount of web traffic that's come my way via Suburban Bliss, I'd say Melissa qualifies.

I also want to mention that I have a new link on the side bar: the Hot Water blog, nominated for several Best Australian Blog categories. It's really good stuff; do check it out. But you have to imagine Niki narrating it in a charming New Zealand/Australian accent to get the full effect.

Finally, I got a brief comment from another blog celebrity (we need to come up with a word for that... blogstar?), Busy Mom. And with this unexpected Two Degrees of Suburban Bliss thing, I'm thinking I must surely know Elizabeth from somewhere too.

*Don't go to suburbanbliss.net. Someone else bought the domain and Melissa no longer writes there
