Trying to stay up-to-date with media phenomena.

So okay, it was bad enough that I didn't know about the Dick in a Box thing until I read about it on Idiom Savant. But I also didn't know about Box in a Box until I read about it on Busy Mom. I've really got to do better about keeping up with important stuff like this.

Anyone watching the "Grease" reality TV show? It's a little weak, if you ask me... trying too hard to be like "American Idol", but without the personality. Yeah, they got a British guy, but he's no Simon Cowell. I guess I'll still watch. I don't particularly like any of the contestants, but as of yet we don't know anything about anyone. Maybe it'll get more interesting once we whittle down to the group of finalists.

Of course, "Idol" starts tomorrow, so maybe I won't have time for "Grease" anyway.

We watched Demetri Martin on Comedy Central last night. That's one funny guy. I hope we start finding some new stand-up comedy talent, because to me, it seems like there's been a lull since the golden age in the late 80s and early 90s. Remember when A&E used to show stand-up non-stop? Those were the days when we first saw Jerry Seinfeld and Ellen Degeneres and Ray Romano. Will any of today's standups be tomorrow's TV superstars? Maybe Jim Gaffigan will be part of the next wave.

Finally, I read today that the producers of "Lost" are considering setting an end date to the series. They're quoted as saying they don't want to go the way of the "X-Files", which "ran two seasons too long".

Amen to that.

Stand-up comedy died and went to Vegas.
