Blame Canada! | Friday, 2004 December 10 - 2:05 am |
Will Canada burn in hell? Or has that already happened? Canada's highest court declared that the legislature has the right to legalize same-sex marriage. I'm not sure if that makes them "activist" judges because they DISAGREE WITH THE CONSERVATIVE RIGHT, or if they're, um, "passivist" judges because they decided that someone else should actually make the call. ("We strongly declare that we aren't really going to declare anything.") Anyway, it appears that Canada is well on the way to legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide. Of course, now all the shrill conservative talking heads are denouncing Canada in every way possible. Ann Coulter says that Canada is "lucky to be on the same continent as us". Carlson Tucker says that Canada is like a colder version of Honduras. And don't forget, THEY SPEAK FRENCH IN CANADA. Oh, the horror. I guess now that they've beaten Kerry, Republicans need someone new to lynch, to stamp out all remaining vestiges of intelligent discourse in this country. I'm curious to see if Canadian culture utterly self-destructs into an orgy of pornography, lechery, and adultery (and I mean, in places outside of Quebec). After all, isn't that what the religious right wing says will happen here in the U.S., if gay marriage is legalized? |

I'm going to get an internship at CNN and kick Tucker Carlson's ass. Canadians! Those immoral heathens! And what's with the health care system up there??!! Geez! People are dying right and left and getting poisoned by drugs. I met a Canadian last weekend who was wondering what to do on a Saturday night I told him to write "I'm Canadian" on his T-shirt and take a walk through the West Village. I think he had the time of his life. |
