Breaking News: Bush May Have Smoked Marijuana
Sunday, 2005 February 20 - 3:48 pm
Okay, I guess that's not really a surprise to most of us.

An ABC News and New York Times story reports that there is a secret tape with Bush's admission that he smoked marijuana, but didn't admit it for fear of setting a bad example to kids.

I guess the message to kids now is: if you DO smoke weed, you should definitely LIE about it. If you tell the truth about it, you're just a dumb Democrat like Al Gore, and you'll never get to be President.

Most of us shouldn't be surprised by this admission, except perhaps the rabid Bush supporters who still wear blinders when it comes to Bush's morally-questionable past. Personally, I don't think of marijuana use as immoral, but if you keep talking about Bush as if he's the Perfect Christian President, you'd better be prepared to account for stuff like this. Is marijuana usage moral, or is Bush immoral, or both? You tell me.

No doubt there will be a campaign of denial starting very soon, including attempts to smear the character of Doug Wead, the source of the secret tapes.

Let the mud-slinging begin.

Yeah, I thought it was a made-up name. Doug Wead and his friends: Barry Pott, Mary Jane Wana, and Pastor Dutchie.

I don't get it.

Bush's cocaine addiction is well-known; why is coke okay, but admitting to smoking pot a bad example?

Or is it just that he has impoverished the nation to the extent that he doesn't expect kids to be able to afford coke anymore, so it's alright?

You can only imagine how hard I laughed they played the tapes on TV and the first thing W. says is say "Mr. Wead..." And I thought, dude, if that's a code name and he's talking about pot, come on, George! I always thought you were a little on the dull side, but jeez!

And the cocaine! Kids will think it's OK to try cocaine? God, W. makes my head hurt.

Smoke a little wead... er, weed. It'll make your head hurt less. And if you feel morally ambiguous about it, just say to yourself: WWWD (What Would W Do?)
