Apple Watch: Something ELSE Is Coming
Tuesday, 2005 October 18 - 1:35 am
What? Another Apple Event?

Yep. Now there's an Apple Event scheduled for this Wednesday, October 19th. It's on the eve of the PhotoPlus Expo in New York, leading some to speculate about a new photo-processing software application. Apple's announcement only says they will unveil their latest "pro innovations". Does that mean new PowerMacs and/or PowerBooks? The rumor sites definitely seem to think so. Ooooh.

Something else adding fuel to the rumor fires: Apple has trademarked the term "Vingle" for a variety of uses, including telecommunications, education, searching, browsing, and using on-line applications. Is it some sort of peer-to-peer system? Internet TV? Chat plus file sharing over the Internet, integrated with iTunes? Or perhaps everything all at once, Apple's vision of the digital lifestyle all put together?

"Vingle". Is it "video+single" or "video+mingle", as some people are guessing? "virtual+pringle"? "vibrating+tingle"?

Most likely, "Vingle" was just a throwaway code name for the iTunes and iPod video stuff they just released, and it doesn't mean anything at all now. Ah well. At least we know something is coming on Wednesday, even if it's not potato chips streamed to us over the Internet.
