Apple Watch: MacBook (Non-Pro) With Core 2 Duo
Thursday, 2006 November 9 - 9:26 am
A quiet update to the MacBook came yesterday.

Apple updated its consumer line of notebooks yesterday, putting the Intel Core 2 Duo "Merom" in the MacBook. This is on the heels of the Merom update to the MacBook Pro line a few weeks ago. The Mac Mini will probably get a processor upgrade shortly.

The clock speeds stay the same, 1.83 GHz and 2.0 GHz. On the 1.83 GHz model, all specifications have remained the same except the processor. The mid-level white 2.0 GHz model gets the new processor, a larger cache (4MB instead of 2MB), more memory (1GB instead of 512MB), and a faster SuperDrive. The high-end black 2.0 GHz model gets the new processor, a larger cache (4MB instead of 2MB), more memory (1GB instead of 512MB), a larger hard drive (120GB instead of 80GB), and a faster SuperDrive.

Price points are unchanged at $1099, $1299, and $1499.

Do you wish you had waited?

Naah. My MacBook is more than fine for what I'm doing. A little speed bump wouldn't have been worth waiting six months.
