Today's Frozen Meal: Healthy Choice Fajita Steak
Tuesday, 2010 January 5 - 12:45 pm
"Beef in a Spicy Southwestern Style Sauce, Whole Grain Rice, Vegetable Blend & Caramel Apple Multigrain Crisp".

Box

Meal

This time the actual food is pretty true to the picture on the package, though that's partly due to better lighting in my house than in my office. Also there's a vaguely dog-foodish quality to the beef that's somewhat unnerving.

Taste: The beef is probably from the round, so it's pretty lean. Still, it's fairly tender and it has some flavor to it. There's certainly nothing fajita about it; it's more like chunks of beef in taco sauce. There's not much flavor to the rice, though you really can't taste anything over the taco sauce anyway. The vegetables are corn, black beans, and some very tiny pieces of green pepper. Both the rice and vegetables ended up overcooked. And surprise! It's apple crisp for dessert! Score: 2.5/5.0

Nutrition

Nutrition: Pretty decent, almost on par with yesterday's meal: low fat, low calories, low sodium, high fiber, high vitamin content. Score: 3.0/3.0

Packaging: Required me to peel/slit the film, but I didn't have to stir the entree. Score: 1.5/2.0

Total Score: 7.0/10.0

I've found the dog food thing to be true of a lot of the frozen dinners I've tried. Bleh.
