Today's Frozen Meal: California Pizza Kitchen BBQ Recipe Chicken Pizza | Wednesday, 2010 March 10 - 1:23 pm |
Not barbecue, but "BBQ recipe". I guess they want to completely eliminate the possibility of being sued because this wasn't cooked on a barbecue grill. "Pizza topped with BBQ Sauce, White Meat Chicken, Reduced Fat Mozzarella Cheese, Smoked Gouda Cheese, Red Onions, and Cilantro." (Wow, a serial comma!) This is the final part of the pizza series. This California Pizza Kitchen pizza is very similar to the first DiGiorno pizza in terms of packaging; that's no surprise since they're both put out by Kraft. By the way, I discovered that my web site is now classified by a "Restaurant/Food/Dining" site by some web filtering services. I think I need to throw in a few posts about gay marriage or something while I have the chance. Taste: Quite tasty. It's slightly dough-heavy like the DiGiorno, but the other flavors are well-balanced. I don't taste the cilantro at all, but the barbecue (er, BBQ) sauce and onions complement the chicken nicely. I've had this pizza in the restaurant and this version actually comes pretty close. Score: 4.0/5.0 Nutrition: Significantly better than the DiGiorno, but still nothing to write home about. With 13g of fat and 710mg of sodium, it falls outside the line of what I'd consider to be healthy. Score: 1.0/3.0 Packaging: Virtually identical to the DiGiorno, with the same platform and shrinkwrap. Score: 2.0/2.0 Total Score: 7.0/10.0. The nutrition was disappointing, but this is easily better than both the DiGiorno pizzas. And by comparison, the Lean Cuisine pizzas are healthier, but not nearly as tasty. |
