American Idol Week 10: Top 3
Tuesday, 2010 May 18 - 8:56 pm
Michael went home last week, as expected. Tonight: two songs from each contestant, one of their own choosing and one judges' choice.

Casey: "Okay, It's Alright (sic) With Me", by Eric Hutchinson. Does anyone know this song? Eek, it's all whiny and nasal. It's also awfully boring. This is a disaster. Are you kidding? Top three, and this is what you come up with?

Crystal: "Come to My Window", by Melissa Etheridge. A solid, if somewhat safe, song choice for her. The start is a little weak and there are a few pitch problems. It's a pretty average performance for her: it's good, but it didn't show us anything new.

Lee: "Simple Man", by Lynyrd Skynyrd. This is a good choice for him; it's right in his wheelhouse. Vocally it's not fantastic, but I think people will like the performance. It's confident and polished, and it sounds reasonably modern.

Round 1 Winner: Lee.

Casey: "Daughters", by John Mayer. He doesn't seem comfortable with this performance. There are a few pitch problems, and again, it's just a boring song. Randy and Kara didn't do him any favors with this song choice: slow songs aren't his strong suit. Not good.

Crystal: "Maybe I'm Amazed", by Paul McCartney. Stellar choice. She's singing it well, and thank you for not changing the gender in the lyrics. It's a powerful, emotional performance, and she may even win some new fans with that. Strong.

Lee: "Hallelujah", by Leonard Cohen. This has been done to death, but Simon promises it'll be something new. And well, it's actually not bad. It's a big show-closing kind of song, and in a way it's lucky for him that he gets to perform last.

Round 2 Winner: Lee. This round was close, though; Crystal was good too.

Best of the night: Lee.

Going home: Casey.
