Friday Night Blight
Friday, 2005 May 20 - 8:09 pm
The day's events culminate in a big pile of nothing.

The burning question at work today was: how LOUD does the music in my headphones have to be, in order to drown out the Star Wars chatter of my co-workers? Fortunately, I have iTunes and I can play WOXY (the original "97X BAM the future of rock 'n' roll" station) via my computer. They played one of my favorite songs, "Dear God" by XTC , today. I thought that was appropriate, given some of my recent posts.

I went to On The Border today with two other guys from work, and I had the fish tacos again. That place is absolutely crawling with cute waitresses, but we got the LONE MALE WAITER there. What's up with THAT? Of course, we suspected that he might have been gay. And he very likely thought the same of us, because I was wearing my carnival shirt, Paul had a piece of chocolate ice cream cake for lunch, and John was accidentally being a little flirty. Well, we think it was an accident.

This evening I worked late, and with the weather so crummy, I really wanted to just go home and sleep. I feel so guilty staying home on a Friday night, like I'm wasting the opportunity to do something social. But I also hate going out by myself. What I really need are friends whom I can call on a moment's notice and say "Hey, let's go out for a drink". I don't know many people like that any more.

Actually, you might say what I really need is a girlfriend. But I'm trying to avoid that line of thinking, because it's bad for my psyche.

Anyway, I suppose, since I do go out several nights during the week, I shouldn't feel too bad about staying in on Friday. Right?

Is anyone else at home tonight?

Hello?

The best fish tacos are made by a place om the West Coast called Rubios. Mostly in San Diego to LA area, although I think there is one in Vegas as well (what ISN'T in Vegas ?).

i'm home alone, getting ready to crash into bed so i can attempt the ill-advised 5k tomorrow morning at the unreasonable hour of 9am. who wants to run that early in the morning? not me.

why ill-advised? because i haven't actually run in several weeks, and when i tried last night, it just felt wrong and heavy and strange so i quit.

my new goal (previous goal being to run the entire thing) is simply to NOT WALK the entire thing. only because i'm four months pregnant am i accepting that. lame.

I'm here! Second shift jobs on Friday night = everyone having fun and starting their weekend while I sit here like a dope. But! What I was working on tonight was incomplete, half of it will not arrive until Monday! So I worked for an hour. If you can call reformatting text (people! what's with all those extra tabs? Huh?) "work." Now I'm knitting and trying not to fall asleep. Party animal!

Wow. This is the biggest Friday Night Blog Party ever. We should have gotten Eric Neis to host it or something. I bet he'd work for cookies.

Yeah, who would have thought that being on-line on a Friday would turn into the social event of the year? I'll have a cookie, please.
