December 3 Frozen Meal: Kashi Black Bean Mango
Wednesday, 2010 December 15 - 2:29 pm
"Black Beans with Onions, Roasted Red Peppers & Sweet Mangos; Kash 7 Whole Grains & Sesame Pilaf; Zesty Mango Sauce".

Box

Meal

Taste: The texture is nice: the pilaf and beans are firm, not mushy. It's mostly onion-y and sweet, with the mango noticeable but not overpowering. There's a bit of spice to it too; aha, it has jalapeños. Tomato would be a nice addition, but overall the flavors are pretty well balanced. Unfortunately this meal still suffers from the vegan/Kashi curse: it seems more like a side dish than an entree. Score: 3.0/5.0

Nutrition

Nutrition: Look at all that Vitamin A and C! Score: 3.0/3.0

Packaging: Gets the usual Kashi bonus for recycled packaging, though the meal requires peeling and stirring. Score: 2.0/2.0

Total Score: 8.0/10.0
