While I Pondered Weak and Weary | Sunday, 2005 June 19 - 11:59 pm |
So tired... must blog... When I woke up this morning, I wondered, "Why are my arms so sore?" And then I realized it was from kneading dough yesterday for the Crap Empanadas, so those things CONTINUE to inflict their curse on me. Today was a GREAT day in sports, if you happen to like finishing in second place. I mean, geez, Tiger bogeys two holes down the stretch at the U.S. open, and the Pistons lose Game 5 of the NBA Finals in overtime. This means tomorrow I'm going to have to spend the day avoiding Spurs-fan-coworker again. Bleah. Maybe the next few weeks will be better, and I'll get to watch teenage hotties Maria Sharapova and Michelle Wie do well at Wimbledon and the U.S. Women's Open, respectively. (By the way, pet peeve: people who say "Wimbleton" instead of "Wimbledon".) I did have a nice dinner tonight with ex-girlfriend "Connie". I find that I still care for her a lot. For some reason it feels like I have a responsibility to make sure her life is going well. I think that's a common feeling with ex-girlfriends and ex-boyfriends, because I've heard other people say exactly the same thing. We also saw "Cinderella Man", which was another spectacularly not-bad effort from Ron Howard. You know this type of movie well by now: it's entertaining to watch, you like just about everything about it, and it makes you feel good, but afterwards it doesn't take you too long to forget most of it. I'm not going to bother to write up a full review of it. Tonight I'm just so dreadfully tired. I really don't want to go to work tomorrow. I'd like to take a vacation, but not just from work. I want a little time where I don't have to accomplish things around the house, where I don't have to worry so much about maintaining relationships with people, and where I don't have to feel guilty about how much of my life is ticking away. Unfortunately, I believe that type of vacation is known as "death", and I'm not ready to book that trip quite yet. |

If you're willing to fly standby, I can get you cheap tickets. |
