Oy, It's So Humid
Monday, 2005 July 25 - 10:43 pm
It's like a sauna in here.

Gosh it's hot.

Despite the 95°F heat and the stifling humidity, I did go running today. This was probably the only chance I had to run this week, so I had to take advantage of it. (Tomorrow and Wednesday are going to be well over 100°F here.) I ran three miles in 28 minutes even... yeah, it was a slow pace, but I'm still working to get my endurance back up after my injury.

Another thing about the heat... the spiders sure seem to like it. They are all over the place. Normally I'm okay with spiders, but they're making such a mess of my already-messy house, with their webs and their desiccated bug carcasses and all. And there's too many of them to bother with catching them and releasing them outside, so I've taken to just smooshing them. Sorry, spider-lovers.

At least the spiders are helping to control the population of the other insects. It's like Wild Kingdom in here; if I peek into a dark corner, I can watch the life-or-death struggle of a gnat or a millipede caught in a web.

Outside the house, I'm fighting a losing battle against the Japanese beetles and the caterpillars, as they eat all my plants (except the weeds, of course). Hmm, perhaps if I were to unleash an army of giant spiders...

Running! In this weather? You get a gold star. The heat index was 110 here yesterday. I could barely stay outside long enough to weed my flower bed. Ughh...
