I'm All Confused
Monday, 2005 June 13 - 11:30 pm
It was a weird day in the news today.

So, the U.S. Senate is debating a ban on lynching; we're putting a reputed Klansman on trial for the slaying of three voter-registration volunteers; and the Supreme Court has just made a ruling against stacking a jury based on race.

What decade are we in? the 1950s? Wait... before you answer that, consider that we're also facing skyrocketing oil prices, a limp economy, and an overseas quagmire of a war. So you know, this could also be the 1970s.

Today's really big news: Michael Jackson was acquitted on all charges against him, including four counts of lewd conduct with a minor. Now he won't have to register as a sex offender. How am I ever going to find out whether he moves into my neighborhood? But the really shocking revelation was that Michael was convicted as the real killer of Nicole Brown Simpson! Wow, who would have guessed that?

Speaking of freakish celebrities, Paris Hilton is announcing that she'll be dropping out of public life, as she expects to become a wife and mother soon. MY GOD, HOW WILL WE SURVIVE? I guess we'll always have Paris... in sex-video form. Can you imagine being Paris Hilton's son in school, knowing that all your buddies have probably seen your mom giving a blow job on video?

Finally, Katie Holmes says she's considering converting to Scientology, partly due to the influence of boyfriend Tom Cruise. And that is enough of a joke in itself.

Well, economically I'd say the 70's. Morally and socially I'd say the 50's. I don't know what the heck is going on but I know something has got to give soon.

People in my neighborhood were actually screaming as Michael was aquitted. What? Huh? I didn't know it was that important to people around here.

Katie & Tom, ???.

I think the apocalypse must be coming :)
