Thoughts on "Hooking Up"; "Dead Like Me"; "Invasion"; "Boston Legal".

Damn that show, "Hooking Up". It keeps sucking me back in, and it keeps making me so ANGRY! The show's producers seem like they're going out of their way to highlight the worst mistakes that people make while dating (number one on the list: fooling yourself about what you really want). And then it blows up, and the poor women ask themselves "why why why", and there's no good outcome. Is the show just going to keep on going like this?

I keep telling myself to stop watching this show, but then I feel like I have to watch, so that I can blog about it. Maybe next week I'll live-blog the show, and say things like: "See there, when she just closed her eyes as she said that? That means she's lying." Or, "See how he stiffened his jaw when he smiled and said that? That means he's lying." There's a lot of lying going on in this show. But in that sense, it's not so far off from the real dating world.

Here's a treat for next week: it appears we're going to get introduced to a couple of women who don't look like supermodels. That'll be a refreshing change.

Why didn't anyone tell me? Showtime's "Dead Like Me" did not get picked up for a third season. Shit! I really liked that show. The second season wasn't as emotionally gripping as the first season, but it was still a good show.

I'm not so sure about the upcoming ABC show "Invasion". I don't like the way networks jump on the bandwagon of a particular genre, just because one show in that genre was a success. Sure, we all love "Lost", but that's because of the outstanding writing and acting, not because it's a supernatural mystery show.

Less than a week until Shatner's back, on "Boston Legal". Hooray! By the way, check out this great Shatner tidbit. (Thanks to Crouching Hamster for discovering this.)

I missed "Hooking Up" this week! I'm going to have to call you for an update about the cute girl from South Dakota.

And I'm all on the Shat for Sunday night! Did you know he's Canadian?
