Today's Miscellany

As always, bringing you the most important headlines of the day.

Wow, that Hurricane Rita is looking pretty scary. It's reached Category 5, otherwise known as HOLY SHIT THAT'S A BIG HURRICANE.

It seems headed straight for Houston. I'm thinking SOMEBODY in that crowd of Astrodome Katrina evacuees must be a hurricane magnet or something. Whoever that guy is, send him to the Sahara desert or something.

Anyway, look out, all you Gulf-state people. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

It's a good thing we've got Tyra Banks to keep focused on what's really important: proving that her boobs are real. Tyra had a sonogram performed on her boobs LIVE during her television talk show, to dispel rumors that she had implants. I'm not sure what's the worst thing: the fact that she did this, the fact that Reuters picked it up as a newsworthy story, or the fact that I'm spending time blogging about it.

Raleigh has been named one of the country's seven "cool cities". An article in Kiplinger Magazine described Raleigh as a perfect for young professionals, with its downtown renaissance, quality college scene, and low housing costs. Now, don't get me wrong, I think Raleigh is a pretty nice place to live. But to be called "cool" by a financial magazine is somewhat like being voted "Most Popular" by the high school chess club.

low housing costs? Do you mean that one bedroom condos can cost less that $450,000?

Indeed! Thinking of moving here, maybe? :)
