| Wow, two separate Hello-Kitty-related news items to report. First (via Sassyfrass): Hello Kitty costumes for your cats. Or that is to say, for our cats, as soon as we can figure out how to buy them. These things are fantastic.  Second: Policemen in Thailand who commit minor crimes (e.g. parking violations, littering) will be punished by being forced to wear pink Hello Kitty armbands all day. Now, there are two things wrong with this story: (a) Is that really such an unbearable punishment, to wear a Hello Kitty armband for one day? (b) The AP photo that accompanies this story on most news sites has this picture:  That is not an armband. That is not a cop. And, this man is Chinese, not Thai. The editor's note apparently read: "Insert stock photo of Hello Kitty on any Asian body part here." |
