This Week
Sunday, 2005 July 10 - 11:35 pm
Lots going on this week.

Today's two-mile time: 18:15. Truly pathetic. There's no reason that I shouldn't be able to hit 17:30 consistently. It's only a difference of three seconds for every eighth of a mile (1:05 instead of 1:08).

And even though I told myself that I'd go a third mile, if I came in at over 18:00, I was so gassed that I couldn't do it. That two-week layoff has really hurt me. Note to self: when recovering from an injury, do not spend your convalescence drinking beer.

Second note to self: do not make notes to self while drinking beer, or you won't remember them later.

Dressy Bessy is at the Local 506 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that place requires a membership and I don't have one (and you have to get one three days in advance... stupid North Carolina alcohol laws). I suppose I could try to find someone to get me in.

Sheena Easton will be in the North Carolina Theatre production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" this week. I'll be seeing it Friday. It's not one of my favorite shows, but I think Sheena will be worth seeing. She's actually a remarkably good singer; her album "No Strings", where she sings a bunch of old classics, is pretty impressive. Sometimes the cast members head down to April and George after a show to sing a few songs; I wonder if she'll be there.

The Violent Femmes will be downtown in Raleigh, on Saturday, for free. That's going to be so cool.

Are you SURE you're not gay? I mean with the bags and clothes and Broadway and just... depth? :-) I kid, I kid. Good luck with the 506. I don't have the connections or I'd help you out. ;-)

Oh, I'm sure... I wrote about it in an earlier post. Naked men = GROSS.

I appreciate the "depth" comment, though.

While I really like the Femmes' early 90s stuff, I'm a little bothered by a balding 40-year-old still singing about his "permanent record." You'll have to let us know how it goes.

Mmm hmm. It'll be interesting to watch.
