MLK Day
Tuesday, 2006 January 17 - 9:06 am
So I celebrated yesterday, MLK Day, by taking pictures of My Little Kitty.

Okay, so technically, Foster here is not my kitty; he's Amy's. But he's staying at my house for a few days.

And technically, MLK Day is not really My Little Kitty Day. But you probably knew that.

I have actually never owned a pet. I wanted a dog as a boy, but my parents rightfully determined that I wouldn't be able to take care of a dog properly. (I probably still couldn't take care of a dog properly.) Later, I liked the idea of having a cat, but I've always been a little bit allergic. Fortunately, my cat allergies seem to have faded over the years. I don't seem to have any trouble with Foster.

Foster is a fun cat. He's very personable: he's the kind of cat that likes to be petted all the time, and will follow you around mraowing until he gets some attention. He doesn't seem to get freaked out by anything; he's generally very mellow and laid-back. He loves ice cubes, being scratched on the nose and chin, rubbing against legs, exploring tucked-away places, and lying across thresholds where you might eventually walk. And I've just introduced him to Pounce.

He's a good little kitty.

Mr. Foster, happy (belated) MLK Day.

I was wildly allergic to cats until my late 20s, and then one day it just went away. Which is good, because my roommate has a giant fluffy cat.

He looks like he might be part Maine Coon.

I think he is mostly Norwegian forest cat. He has to kiss EVERYBODY on the lips too.
