Television: American Idol 2006, Part 2
Saturday, 2006 February 18 - 1:25 pm
Yeah, The Show is back, and I'm gonna blog about it again. Part 2: The Women.

American Idol is past the preliminary rounds, and we're down to the final 24 contestants. Here's how the 12 women stack up.

THE TOP THREE WOMEN

Paris Bennett: 17; Fayetteville, GA. Just oustanding; in a class by herself. Amy says: "I'm buying her CDs already."

Kellie Pickler: 19; Albemarle, NC. Too cute not to go far. Powerful voice, if she can harness it. Amy says: "Kinda trailer trash... She's like Joy from 'My Name is Earl'."

Stevie Scott: 19; Fair Oaks, CA. Good voice, but needs some style help; she might be this year's Diana DeGarmo. Amy says: "Wrong lipstick, wrong eyeshadow, wrong, wrong, wrong."

THE NEXT THREE WOMEN

Becky O'Donohue: 25; Dobbs Ferry, NY. Supermodel good looks; too pretty not to make it to the top 12. Amy says: "Too pretty to be dressing like a WHORE."

Lisa Tucker: 16; Anaheim, CA. She's got a good voice, but she lacks maturity; that'll probably cost her at some point.

Brenna Gethers; 25, Mt. Vernon, NY. She's the one we're all gonna love to hate. Not a very good singer, but no doubt the producers will try to keep her on the show to prop up ratings.

THE REST OF THE WOMEN

Katharine McPhee: 21; Los Angeles, CA. Cute and a pretty good voice. She kissed all the judges on the lips, including Paula. Amy says: "Her lipstick should have kept her out."

Mandisa Hundley: 29; Antioch, TN. Whooo, that's a big girl; she said, "Y'all ain't looking at my bottom, are ya?" Good singer, but maybe not a star. Amy says: "That's a treasure chest back there."

Ayla Brown: 17, Wrentham, MA. The privileged rich girl. Not the best singer; Simon says she'll be an underdog. Amy says: "Eww... uh-uh."

Heather Cox: 22; Jonesville, NC. Well, she's certainly got the ho factor going for her. Amy says: "With a name like Cox, she's got to make it far."

Melissa McGhee: 21; Tampa, FL. Not much personality; not very memorable.

Kinnik Sky: 28; Duluth, GA. Simply not a good enough singer. Amy says: "They should call her 'Kinky'. She dresses like a ho."
