It's modern-songs night. It's a pretty weak night all around. Chris Daughtry: 9/10. Overall=9.0. A pretty typically solid performance. But he's in danger of becoming a one-trick pony. Paris Bennett: 9/10. Overall=8.8. Energetic and soulful; this is fun, and I like it! I dare say she outperformed Beyoncé. Katharine McPhee: 9/10. Overall=8.3. Wow, she sang Christina Aguilera. Missed a note or two at the start, but got it together, and ended up singing it really well. It's a tough song, and I'm impressed that she pulled it off. Taylor Hicks: 7/10. Overall=7.5. Taylor, Taylor... we know you're old-school, but you're supposed to sing something modern this week. This was a little bit 1970s. Good singing, but I was a little bored by it. Mandisa: 6/10. Overall=6.8. Pitchy. A gospel song seems a little cliché, or as Simon put it, "indulgent". I think he meant "self-indulgent". Energetic, but this isn't gonna sell any records. Elliott Yamin: 6/10. Overall=5.8. Did he mess up the words? It's a spirited performance, but it's a little too much "I'm a funky white boy". The dancing is horrendous. The vocals are just okay. Kellie Pickler: 5/10. Overall=5.7. Okay, this is a terrible song choice. "Suds in a Bucket"? This is what you're trying to sell to millions of fans? It's like something you'd sing at a kid's birthday party. She sings it okay, but who cares? We need serious singers here. Ace Young: 3/10. Overall=4.3. Very pitchy. "Drops of Jupiter" is a great song, but as Amy said, he made it sound more like "Drops of Uranus". It's whiny and nasal, like bad karaoke. Simon agrees. Lisa Tucker: 3/10. Overall=3.8. Pitch is all over the place. Whiny. Boring. Even Paula is struggling to find anything good to say. Bucky Covington: 2/10. Overall=2.5. Well, at least all the other contestants can count on Bucky to hold down the bottom of the pile. Another pointless performance. |

I'm getting so sick of that "ace face" he does at the end of every performance I'm ready to vote him off just for that alone. |

Lisa, Ace, and Katharine are the bottom three. Wow, Bucky must be catching the "vote for the worst" contingent. And... Lisa is out. Nice girl, just not good enough. See ya. |
