U.S. soccer; SCOTUS news; global warming. The U.S. soccer team was ousted from the World Cup by Ghana this week. Tens of fans across the country are severely disappointed. When I asked a friend how he felt about this, he said, "The U.S. has a soccer team?" The Supreme Court ruled unanimously that a worker who was suspended for 37 days after filing a sexual discrimination complaint was the victim of unfair retaliation by the company. The woman, who is 5'1", worked as a forklift operator. After she complained of sexual harassment, she was suspended for 37 days over Christmas; then, when reinstated, she was transferred to a job that involved backbreaking heavy lifting, which eventually put her on permanent disability. Score one for the good guys. Even Scalia voted correctly this time. The Earth is at its highest temperature in 2000 years. There's more and more evidence that global warming is accelerating, and that humans are the cause of that. So Al Gore was right! Again! |
