Oh That Wacky Bush
Friday, 2006 March 24 - 8:24 am
More bad news for the worst president ever.

"Embattled". That's the word that's being applied more and more frequently to members of the Bush administration. There's poetic justice for you.

In part of Dubya's press conference last week, he said this:
I am confident—I believe—I'm optimistic that we'll succeed.
I thought it was funny how he had to step down through words until he found one that was weak enough. Confident Believe Optimistic Hopeful I think I had a dream about it Hey, look over there!

Meanwhile, Donald Rumsfeld is battling questions himself, after a two-star general wrote an op-ed piece calling him "incompetent". And Maureen Dowd suggested he doesn't hold much sway over the administration any more, saying that he's treated like "an eccentric old uncle who's ignored". Aww, how cute.

And then there's Cheney, who apparently has managed to get through the week without shooting anyone. We think.

The fourth horseman of this group, Condoleeza Rice, was in Afghanistan recently, attempting to convince leaders to spare the life of a man accused of converting to Christianity. (Apparently, conversion from Islam to Christianity is still a capital offense in Afghanistan.) In a speech, she said, "There is no more fundamental issue for the United States than freedom of religion and religious conscience." And that's not just for Christians... it's for all of you people that are gonna burn in everlasting hell, too!

But really, the most fundamental issue in the U.S. is freedom of religion? Are you sure it's not March Madness? Because more people seem to be talking about that.

By the way, Bush's approval rating continues to hover around its all-time low.
