Shatner sings; Gilligan dies; Ahnult gets a wedgie.

People who shouldn't be singing are going to sing at this year's Emmy Awards show. This includes William Shatner singing the theme to "Star Trek"... with opera singer Frederica von Stade. Megan Mullaly and Donald Trump are going to sing the "Green Acres" theme. Viewers will be able to select their favorite performer, "American Idol"-style.

Does this strike anyone as a gigantic hoax? Could they possibly be serious? Of course, I'm going to have to watch, just to get my Shatner fix.

Bob Denver, who will always be known as Gilligan, died today. I was never sure whether to feel happy for all his success, or sad that he spent his last forty years having people call him "little buddy".

You know, I'll bet that more Americans would recognize Gilligan than they would William Rehnquist.

The California legislature passed a bill that would legalize gay marriage. Though it's uncertain whether Governor Ahnult will sign it, it still represents a significant victory for gay rights.

You go, girlie men.
