Celebrity basketball; bad Hollywood remakes; and not-so-startling nutrition news.

Okay, so I guess I wasn't the only one that found this kind of funny yesterday, during the NCAA tournament game featuring Bradley vs. Pittsburgh:

The loser of this game had to adopt one child from Ethiopia with Angelina Jolie. The winner got a date with Jennifer Aniston.

I'm not in an office pool for the tourney this year, for the first time in many years. Somehow the tournament always kind of sneaks up on me, despite the fact that it's predictably at pretty much the same time every year. This year I just didn't get it together in time. There's also the fact that Michigan didn't get into the tournament, which sort of reduces my interest level overall. Now I'm just rooting for as many "good" teams to go down in flames as possible... hooray, George Mason University!

Ice Cube as Mr. Kotter? Really? Are you kidding?

Apparently there's gonna be a movie remake of "Welcome Back Kotter" coming up, and rapper Ice Cube is going to play the title role. Yeah, that works, because Gabe Kaplan was so gangsta.

I now believe anything is possible when it comes to remakes. John Tesh as The Fonz? Sure. Howard Stern as Captain Steubing? Why not? Starr Jones as Lucy Ricardo?

Okay, maybe that's pushing it.

In the NO DUH category, a study is finding that maybe the Atkins diet isn't so healthy after all. I mean seriously... did people really think eating a bunch of bacon is the best thing they can do for themselves?

Not that I'm knocking bacon. I love me some bacon. But I also love rice and cereal and potatoes and tiny breads. It's all about balance, folks.

Also, aspartame continues to not cause lupus.

I think Ice Cube would be perfect for "Welcome Back Kotter"

Okay, Tim, I'm guessing you don't even know what "Welcome Back Kotter" is, or for that matter, who Ice Cube is. ;)

I can't wait to hear the hip-hop remake of the theme. ;)
